Simple present tense
The function of simple present tense are: (fungsi dari simple present tense adalah :)
1. To
state the general things. (untuk menyatakan hal-hal umum .)
Example :
a. Fire is hot.
b.Ice is cold.
2. To
state the habitual activities. (Untuk menyatakan aktivitas-aktivitas
kebiasaan.)
Example :
a. Farda studies English everyday.
b. Sasa gets up early every morning.
3. To
state the activities done in the future.
(Untuk menyatakan aktivitas yg akan dilakukan di masato depan.)
Example :
a. The train leaves tomorrow morning.
b. Siki goes to her grandparents next week.
The sentence pattern in simple present tense can be
seen,as follow:
(pola kalimat simple present tense dapat
dilihat,sebagai berikut:
1) The
sentence pattern of to be :is,am,are. (Pola kalimat dari to be :is,am,are).
a. Possitive
sentence (+).
S+is/am/are+adj/adv/N
Example : I
am a student.
You
are a doctor.
She
is happy.
b. Negative
sentence (-).
S+is/am/are+not+adj/adv/N
Example: I
am not a student.
You are not a doctor.
She is not happy.
c. Intrrogative
sentence (?)
Is/am/are + S + adj/adv/N?
Example: Am I a student?, Are you a doctor?
Is she happy?
2) The
sentence pattern of invinitive :V1
(s/es/ies) (Pola kalimat dari )
a. Afirmative
sentence (+)
S + V1 (S/es/ies+O)
Example:
I study English.
She
cooks a pizza.
They
eat a hamburger.
b. Negative
sentence (-)
S + do/does not +V1+O
Example: I
do not study English.
She
does not cook a pizza.
They
do not eat hamburger.
c. Introgative
sentence (?)
Do/does + S + V1+O?
3) Adverbial
of time usually used in simple present tense
Always Generally Regularly
Usually Everyday Every year
Never Once a
day Every Morning
Note:
1. The
letter –s added for the verb followed by subject :He ,she ,it or single
subject.
2. The
letter -es added when the verb ending is :-ss,-sh,-ch,-x if followed by the
subject he,she and it or single object.
3. The
letter –ies added for the consonant letter followed y if
the subject followed : she, he, it. The
y omited being into i.
Example: Fly →The bird flies.
Cry →The baby cries.
Study
→Andi studies.
